Anoosha Syed is a Pakistani-Canadian author, illustrator, and visual storyteller based in Dallas. She has written and illustrated over 40 picture books, including the bestselling That’s Not My Name!, Lost Stick, and The Salt Princess. With clients like Netflix, Target, Google, and Disney, she also mentors emerging artists through speaking, consulting, and educational content focused on creative careers.

Anoosha Syed is a Pakistani-Canadian author, illustrator, and visual storyteller based in Dallas, Texas. Over the past decade, she has illustrated more than 40 picture books and covers for publishers including Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Scholastic, and Macmillan. Her author-illustrator debut That’s Not My Name! was praised for its heartfelt message about identity and has become a back-to-school staple. Her follow-up Lost Stick won the Blue Spruce award in 2025, and her illustrations for Bilal Cooks Daal earned the APALA Honor.
Anoosha’s client list spans publishing, tech, and entertainment, with notable collaborations including Google, Netflix, Disney and Target. Her vibrant, expressive style is known for its charm and emotional resonance, often highlighting stories from her perspective as a first-generation, Muslim woman of color.
Alongside her creative work, Anoosha is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She shares honest advice about freelancing, publishing, and building a sustainable creative career through one-on-one consulting, public speaking, and online content. Whether through books, talks, or digital platforms, her goal is to help artists feel seen, empowered, and equipped to thrive.
When she's not making art, you can usually find her chasing her toddler, experimenting with gouache, or working on her next picture book.
